58 years of Spiderman 1962-2020 signature shirt was an overgrown baby. You get to see him cry and whine in so many parts of the film, and his partner, Mary Jane, was played as an unpleasant snob on the screen rather than the strong supporting role she plays in the comics. His terrible acting and the director’s vision of making comic book films rather than superhero films killed the trilogy and made McCryer unbelievable. We have to give Sam Raimi some credit, though. They were tip top at their time, with terrible films like Daredevil competing for space but the best films hold value over time. I can still enjoy the original Ghostbusters, and watch Empire Strikes Back a few times a year, but I don’t even touch these films anymore. Andrew Garfield’s Peter should not have even made it to the big screen it would have made more sense to go the direction of Miles Morales if anything, but at least they are redeeming the character now with a cartoon.
