Bird watching Bird nerd shirt is anthropomorphism, plain and simple. That’s absolutely not true. Birds as a whole don’t enjoy flying any more than all humans enjoy walking. They fly because that is how they get to the food, water, and their nesting areas. If they don’t have to fly to get to these things, they won’t. I have a Macaw who never learned to fly and is terrified of flying, absolutely refusing to learn. No matter what I have tried, she will not even take the first steps. She’s perfectly happy walking or being carried to everything she needs to get to. While there are some birds that do enjoy flying, as there are some people that enjoy running and walking, it’s a mistake to say that all of them must. Birds feel imprisoned in their cages. If the cage is the appropriate size for the bird and the bird has an enriched environment with lots of stimulation and toys, the bird regards its cage as its safe place and its home.
