Chicago fire signature shirt was a lethal firetrap. Fire safety was a long, hard road, learned at great cost. I remember talking about this in a US History class. Don’t remember much, I had a late night the previous night. I also understand that the Chicago fire started the idea of fire prevention week. Chicago and San Francisco were rebuilt without a dime from the U.S. government. Chicago also suffered from a second fire after the Columbian Exposition. The fire in Peshtigo Wisconsin was by far bigger than the Chicago Fire which happened at the same time but the Chicago Fire took the news headlines. We’ve been singing this song in school and I always think ‘what if that means a great fire somewhere?’ and I was right! I had a feeling Mrs. O’Leary was going to be a scapegoat because she was Irish and an immigrant.
