They have freedom, but perhaps not the freedom we expect; where I see a cage, perhaps they see a home? At any rate, there’s a reason it’s called a bird-brain; and I don’t think flamingos have too many more goals than eating shrimp and being awed at by a thousand wide-eyed humans. I would guess, though, that when they are, it’s because they’re a really good value for money, in a nutshell. They’re versatile, you don’t need a ton of infrastructure to house them and they don’t block the view to other stuff.
