I am a lucky daughter I have a crazy step-dad who happens to cuss a lot shirt understand what you’re going through. My mother went through this 12 years ago. She went to the internet and scoured it for solutions. She wanted me to have a normal life and have success in life. She sent me to conversion therapy for 1.5 years while I was in high school to try to make this happen. I was mentally tortured during this time. After 3.5 years, she realized that it was the wrong thing and started to support me. But the damage had been done. Our relationship was strained. I felt uncomfortable talking to her often and hid part of my life from her. It took a long time even after she had accepted me for me to have a good relationship with her. We are good now, 12 years from now after I’ve come to terms that she was trying to do the right thing for me.
