I’m not a gynecologist, but I know a cunt when I see one shirt was coined by a member of the U.S. Supreme Court (Justice Potter Stewart) when in 1964 he was explaining why the material in a case was not obscene (ie. hard-core pornography, which is criminal and not protected by the First Amendment) and therefore was in fact protected from censorship. The quote is:  I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description [hard-core pornography, and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it, and the motion picture involved in this case is not that. So if the term is used colloquially today, it’s used when someone is citing something that is paradoxically both subjective and an observable fact.
