I want my two dollars better off dead shirt back in my retail management days, my chain retail store, like many chain retail stores, gave the scheduling manager which happened to be me so many hours to dish out to employees the next week, based upon expected sales numbers. The total hours I could schedule people usually varied between 800 to 1200. Our pay period began on Sunday morning and ended on Saturday night. Fridays and Saturdays were our busiest days. The best workers and really all it took was reliability and common sense to be one of the best workers could easily get 40 hours per week, and even some overtime on the weekends when we were busy. Workers that helped us out when we were busy like that were quickly promoted. But there were always a handful of really good employees who refused to work more than 20 hours per week.
